The Diu Fort is symbolic to the Portuguese rule in Diu, which is now a Union Territory, administered by the Government of India. It was made by Portuguese during their initial days of colonial rule of the Diu Island. Diu Fort was made around 1535 for the defense alliance forged by Bahadur Shah, the Sultan of Gujarat and the Portuguese it was made when Humayun, the Mughal Emperor waged war to annex the territory. People who come to Diu tourist really do not miss Diu fort by any chance and it is very well marked in world tourist maps. The Fort with its own very long boundary and old time architecture becomes a very interesting attraction point.
